Salary: NJC Scale 5 (SCP 12–17) £28,598 - £31,022 (depending on experience)

Location: The Manor House, Church Street, Littlehampton, BN17 5EW

Contract: Permanent

Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday 8:30-17:00, Fridays 8:30-16:30. Hours: 37 hours per week. Occasional out of hours/ weekend/ evening work.

Littlehampton Town Council is seeking a creative, organised and professional Communications and Civic Officer to lead on the Council's communications activity and provide comprehensive support to the Civic Office. This is an exciting role at the heart of the Council's public-facing work, combining digital communications, marketing, media liaison and civic administration. You will help ensure residents, partners and stakeholders are informed, engaged, and connected with the work of the Town Council, while supporting the smooth delivery of civic functions and events.

This Role Has Two Key Areas Of Responsibility

  • Communications and Publicity: You will manage and deliver the Council's communications across all channels, ensuring information is accurate, accessible and engaging. This includes maintaining website content, creating digital and written materials, managing social media and press releases, supporting internal communications, coordinating photography and design work, tracking engagement, and liaising with media and partners.
  • Civic Office Support: You will support the Town Mayor by managing correspondence, diaries and engagement requests, organising major civic events (such as Mayor Making, Remembrance Sunday and the Annual Town Meeting), attending civic functions on occasions, coordinating the Merit Awards, and maintaining civic records and inventories. You will also support general administration, financial records and project work as required.
