These include event planning and office administration, crafts, woodwork, cooking, and horticulture (growing plants at the garden nursery, growing organic fruit and vegetables, and a contract gardening service for the local community).
The Role
The Community and Events teams are at the very heart of organising events that help celebrate our Brunswick community and provide opportunities for connection and friendship. We are seeking a positive, enthusiastic, and friendly Community and Events Team Leader to play a pivotal role in this aspect of the nursery.

In this role, you will lead small teams of people with learning disabilities, who have a range of skills and abilities, to organise inclusive events and talks, write newsletters, and develop our bite-sized learning programme. The size and focus of the events vary but will include small group walks, film nights, and the Christmas party, as well as events that are open to the public, such as an Open Day for our charity or being part of York Unlocked. This role also provides leadership and support for the Group Leader in the team and close liaison with our team of relief cover staff who cover groups in the absence of staff.
Work pattern: Our preferred days are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with an 8.30am start. There is a requirement to be able to attend a team meeting, usually once per month on Tuesdays, 3.30pm-5pm. We may be able to offer some flexibility on the days of the week to be worked. Our ideal candidate will also be able to commit to some occasional overtime, e.g., in the lead up to a big event.
