Purpose

About The Role

Reporting to the Senior Compliance Manager, Compliance Assurance, the role will be primarily focused on the execution of key elements of the Compliance Monitoring Assurance Plan across the 7IM Group as part of the Compliance Assurance team, who are responsible for the successful and timely delivery of the plan. Whilst the role is focused on the execution of the various elements of the monitoring plan, there will be opportunities to support & work with the wider Risk & Compliance Team as and when required. The role will also have direct interaction with the Head of Compliance Assurance and Chief Risk Officer, who is the accountable SMF for Risk, Compliance, Financial Crime, Data Protection and Client Complaints.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake elements of the risk-based compliance monitoring programme in line with the agreed schedule.
  • Produce accurate and complete compliance reports to the business, ensuring that executive summaries are robust and succinct.
  • Maintain records of all outstanding issues raised during monitoring, working with the business to oversee them through to resolution.
  • Work actively with the 7IM business teams to answer questions and resolve issues raised, offering practical solutions wherever possible.
  • Work closely with the Risk Analytics team and the Data insight & analytics team to develop monitoring and reporting solutions to improve efficiency and enhance controls.
  • Assist with the monthly production of compliance management information regarding the findings and observations made from monitoring in an accurate and timely manner for various governance forums as required.
  • Assist with regulatory change projects and delivery of other compliance initiatives as required.
  • Ad hoc, provide support with the investigation of complaints, including facilitating appropriate responses and assisting with root cause analysis.
  • Ad hoc, provide support and cover for other members of the Assurance Team for periods of annual leave etc.
  • Review and maintain or contribute to the development of new compliance policies and procedures in accordance with current and developing regulatory rules and guidance.
  • Provide support for the Senior Compliance Manager overseeing the in-house ACD and 7IM Funds and Models range.

Knowledge

  • Relevant compliance monitoring experience in retail financial services including Wealth Management (Financial Planning and Investment Management) and Fund Oversight (COLL), is key.
  • SIPP and Platform Operations experience is also desirable.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the relevant FCA sourcebooks including COBS, COLL, SYSC, MCOBs.
  • Experience of writing scoping documents for thematic reviews, ability to link back to internal process and regulations.
  • Good general awareness of the financial services industry and financial markets.
  • Strong commitment to compliance principles and practices.
  • Good awareness of aspects of the regulatory environment relevant to the role, and regulatory change.

Skills/Other Relevant Information

  • IT Literate - including good Excel, PowerPoint & Word skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills including experience with report writing and delivery to senior members of staff.

  • Pragmatic approach and ability to offer practical solutions, analysing Regulations and procedures in a compliant, yet business aware manner seeking to support the business’s objectives.
  • Enthusiastic and keen to use initiative.
  • Team player with understanding of key current and forthcoming regulatory developments.
  • Ideally 2 - 3 years of experience.

Education

  • CISI Compliance Diploma or equivalent.
  • Professional industry qualifications.
  • Good Academic qualifications: A-level or higher.
  • Relevant industry experience.
