POSITION SUMMARY

As a Kitchen Porter, you are the backbone of our kitchen operations. You are responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and hygienic food preparation and washing areas, as well as supporting the chef team with basic kitchen duties. This entry-level role is essential to keeping the kitchen running smoothly and offers a great stepping stone for anyone looking to begin a career in the hospitality and culinary industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cleanliness & Hygiene: Wash pots, pans, utensils, dishware, and kitchen equipment quickly and efficiently using the dishwashers and hand-washing stations.
  • Kitchen Sanitation: Keep work surfaces, walls, floors, and storage areas clean, sanitized, and organized in line with 74 Duke standards.
  • Deliveries & Stock: Assist in receiving fresh produce and dry storage deliveries, ensuring stock is safely transported and stored correctly.
  • Waste Disposal: Empty kitchen bins regularly, sort recycling, and ensure waste areas are kept clean and tidy to minimize waste and pest risks.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain strict personal hygiene and adhere strictly to UK Health & Safety and food hygiene regulations.

  • Professionalism: High standard of personal hygiene, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and handle physical tasks (lifting, standing for long periods).
