We are searching for the best talent for our Director, Business Operations position to be located in High Wycombe, United Kingdom.
Purpose: The Delivery Unit (DU) is accountable for operational delivery of the Clinical Portfolio from Early Discovery to Submission and Approval. The Director, Business Operations sits within the DU and is accountable for establishing and continuously optimizing business operations strategy to enable the DU to deliver the portfolio, as measured by time, cost, and quality. The Director, Business Operations achieves this through broad understanding of the Portfolio, strong relationships with functional units within and outside the DU, and by analyzing data to uncover insights and improve ways of working.
The Director, Business Operations reports to the Delivery Operations Leader and leads Business Operations for the entire DU. The role may also include leadership, growth, and development responsibilities for team members.
You will be responsible for:
- Business Operations Strategy: Managing and coordinating business operations activities and driving operational excellence across functional groups in the following areas: Delivery Operations, Trial Management, and Disease Area Stronghold Delivery.
- Reporting and Analysis: Preparing regular reports and presentations on portfolio and business operations performance, including key insights and recommendations.
- Budget and Resource Management: Overseeing budget planning and resource allocation.
- Communication Strategy and Execution: Ensuring consistent and timely communication within the DU.
- System Management: Developing a deep understanding of applicable processes and systems infrastructure.
- Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating operational risks.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating closely with partners to understand requirements and align business operations accordingly.
- Team Management: Supervising and providing guidance to team members within the business operations function.
- Process Improvement: Identifying and leading initiatives to streamline operational workflows.
- Problem Solver: Taking on other projects and activities that support the smooth operation of the DU.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Life Sciences.
- A minimum of 15 years of clinical research experience acquired in pharmaceutical industry, CRO or investigational site.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills are required.
- Proven ability to foster team productivity and cohesiveness is required.
- Ability to manage complexity under pressure.
- Proven track record of project management.
- Strong decision-making and financial management skills.
- Flexibility to work in a rapidly changing environment with the appropriate sense of urgency.
- Excellent knowledge of drug development, clinical research operations and regulatory requirements.
