Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate its Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone company, DePuy Synthes. The separation is expected to complete within 18 to 24 months and will be governed by relevant legal and regulatory approvals. Once completed, this role will be an employee of DePuy Synthes and will operate under DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies and benefits.
As the Value Lead, you will lead, shape and deliver the DePuy Synthes value proposition through a team of managers. You will work across multiple functions to ensure that the organisation’s value‑led strategies are executed, strengthening and developing new partnership opportunities with NHS and private customers. You will also shape value‑based procurement conversations with finance, procurement and leadership teams to address evolving needs.
Core Responsibilities- Lead, shape and deliver the DePuy Synthes value strategy via a team of managers, aligned with BU leads and the commercial organisation.
- Manage tracking and value drawdown in collaboration with the Commercial Team, Finance and Tenders.
- Create and embed the DePuy Synthes value strategy to develop long‑term partnership agreements.
- Recruit, develop and implement the DePuy Synthes value team to enable and accelerate business growth in areas such as diagnosis, contracting, shaping and implementation.
- Support the acceleration of enabling technology to deliver value for customers and patients while meeting financial commitments.
- Co‑ordinate and navigate internal resources across the matrixed organisation to deliver appropriate value‑added solutions.
- Lead the creation of innovative proposals aligned to the evolving market that drive profitable business growth and long‑term partnership.
- Manage and coordinate third‑party value solutions, and support DePuy Synthes DRIs within the business.
- Validate, shape and support submissions to the value council and FPC.
- Support engagement with NHS and private partnerships to develop the future of value‑based procurement.
- Work in collaboration with Commercial Lead and Private Lead to optimise value processes and maintain high engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
- Result‑driven performance and ability to shape and execute business strategy.
- Excellent working knowledge of NHS and private sector procurement.
- Proven ability to negotiate, shape and execute value‑based opportunities.
- Proven track record in engaging with and influencing senior C‑suite stakeholders at both internal and external levels (Director level and above).
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a customer‑centric value‑driven approach, managing complexity, influencing and collaborating in a global, matrixed environment.
- Ability to translate business strategy into actionable plans, with high execution focus and exceptional planning skills.
- Strong passion and track record for innovation and a willingness to deliver results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in local language(s) and English; effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Data analysis skills and ability to draw actionable conclusions.
- Creative divergent thinking, problem‑solving skills, inclusive thinking.
- University degree in business administration, marketing & communications, hospital management, life science, public administration or related fields or studies would be preferable but is not essential.
- Proven communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Excellent understanding of the UK Healthcare System, procurement providers and the strategy of the future operating model, its structure and priorities.
- Understanding of health economic principles and extensive knowledge of the UK medical devices industry.
- IT literacy – ability to analyse and present information using appropriate IT resources.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data, highly numerate.
