During your apprenticeship you will learn the theory as well as gain the hands-on experience you need to become a Mechanical or Electrical Craftsperson. Your role will be to prevent and react to breakdowns in and around the plant. No two days will be the same. Depending on the apprenticeship you pursue, you could be fault-finding on electrical motors or rebuilding an industrial gearbox. Your first job however, is to learn and take in all the knowledge and skills that your lecturers, mentors and coaches give you.
About the Apprenticeship:
- The apprenticeship will last 4 years, where in your first year, you will attend Bridgend College on a full-time basis.
To join us as a first year apprentice, you will need:
- 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (you must have a C or above in Maths and English, plus 2 other subjects).
We are looking for someone passionate about Engineering. You’ll also need to be enthusiastic, responsible and motivated to learn.
If you currently have NVQ Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations, you may be eligible to join us as a second year apprentice.
Apprenticeship Routes:
We offer apprenticeships in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will combine learning both theoretical and practical Engineering skills. At the end of the apprenticeship, you’ll be competent and qualified in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Maintenance and would have gained the below qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations
- VRQ Level 3 Diploma in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical)
- NVQ Level 3 Engineering Maintenance
- Essential Skills at Level 2
You will be taught about and work on some of the largest pieces of kit and machinery in the industry.
