The opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Motor Underwriter to join our underwriting team in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in motor insurance, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for providing exceptional service. As a Motor Underwriter, you will be responsible for assessing risk, determining policy terms, and ensuring that our motor insurance products are both competitive and profitable.

Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. Key responsibilities:

· Assess and evaluate motor insurance applications to determine risk levels.

· Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and policies.

· Calculate premiums and establish terms and conditions for motor insurance policies.

· Review and analyse claims data to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines.

· Collaborate with brokers, agents, and other stakeholders to provide tailored insurance solutions.

· Monitor market trends and adjust underwriting strategies to maintain competitiveness.

· Provide technical support and guidance to junior underwriters and other team members.

· Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Your skills and experience:

· Previous experience in motor underwriting.

· Strong knowledge of motor insurance products, risk assessment, and underwriting principles.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Proficient in using underwriting software and tools.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Ability to make decisions using data and judgment.
