Main Job Purpose:

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of warehouse, inventory, site services, and waste management activities. The role ensures the effective receipt, storage, control, and movement of materials while supporting manufacturing requirements, customer service, and site operational objectives. The Warehouse Manager is accountable for warehouse performance, inventory accuracy, labour utilization, goods receipting, external storage compliance, waste handling operations, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role leads warehouse personnel and works cross-functionally with Production, Logistics, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to deliver operational excellence.

Key Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Warehouse Operations Manage day-to-day warehouse operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective performance.
  • Control warehouse utilization and capacity through effective communication with logistics teams to manage deliveries, collections, and pushbacks.
  • Arrange the return of returnable packaging and communicate with the export team to ensure all documentation is completed accurately and on time.
  • Attend and actively participate in logistics and operational meetings.
  • Ensure all reports are delivered accurately, on time, and in full to relevant departments.
  • Support goods receipting activities when required.
  • Support unloading and loading activities during periods of operational demand.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and warehouse documentation.
  • Conduct stock counts, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliations.
  • Investigate stock discrepancies and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provide cover for key warehouse roles during planned and unplanned absences.
  • Support the warehouse team in resolving operational issues during shifts.
  • Take ownership of external storage locations and ensure compliance with site standards and housekeeping requirements.
  • Manage MHE fleet onsite, ensuring fleet is operational, compliant and be site owner for MHE account management with supplier.

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Ensure accurate inventory transactions are completed within SAP and other warehouse management systems.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify risks relating to supply, storage capacity, and stock accuracy.
  • Support annual inventory audits and periodic cycle counting programs.
  • Ensure materials are received, stored, issued, and controlled in accordance with business procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances in a timely manner.

Site Services & Waste Management

  • Ensure the safe segregation, storage, collection, and disposal of all waste streams generated across the site.
  • Manage relationships with waste contractors and service providers to ensure effective waste collection and disposal.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste generation and improve recycling and sustainability performance.
  • Ensure all waste transfer notes, consignment notes, and environmental records are accurately completed and retained.
  • Own and maintain standards within external storage compounds and waste management areas.
  • Ensure employees involved in waste handling activities are appropriately trained and compliant with site procedures.
  • Support site sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction and environmental performance.

People Management Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and develop warehouse team members to achieve operational and business objectives.
  • Build a strong team culture based on accountability, engagement, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain the training matrix and ensure all employees are appropriately trained and competent within their roles.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop employees through regular feedback and performance support.
  • Plan, manage, and adjust staffing levels to meet operational requirements whilst adhering to labour budgets.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and employee development activities.
  • Manage attendance, performance, conduct, and employee relations matters in accordance with company policies.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration across all departments.

Other Requirements: Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse, inventory, site services, and waste management performance.
  • Review existing processes and implement innovative solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, workplace organization, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Utilize operational data and KPIs to drive decision-making and continuous improvement activities.
  • Lead improvement projects aimed at improving service, productivity, inventory accuracy, compliance, safety, and environmental performance.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Previous warehouse supervisory or management experience within a manufacturing, FMCG, logistics, or distribution environment.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across departments and proactively address operational issues.
  • Knowledge and experience of SAP.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
