Technical sales professional, owning the Cisco brand with customers and partners. Being the technical authority for Cisco’s market-leading Observability portfolio. Your primary expertise is to drive success with AppDynamics (APM, Business iQ, and EUM). As part of our strategic roadmap, you will also build and maintain deep expertise in the Splunk Observability portfolio, eventually serving as an expert who can guide customers through the full spectrum of Cisco’s observability solutions. You will act as a trusted advisor, helping organizations gain visibility into their applications, infrastructure, and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Primary Observability Lead: Serve as the subject matter expert for AppDynamics, leading technical discovery, design, and demonstrations for complex application environments.
- Strategic Expansion: Proactively develop proficiency in the Splunk Observability portfolio (Infrastructure Monitoring, Log Observer, RUM, and APM), providing the capability to position the right solution based on the customer’s specific needs.
- Unified Observability Narrative: Articulate the value of the observability strategy, helping customers understand how to leverage the platforms for end-to-end visibility.
- Technical Sales Leadership: Lead technical engagements from proof‑of‑concept (POC) to production, ensuring that customer business requirements are met through effective platform configuration and integration.
- Continuous Learning: Maintain a rigorous self‑development plan to stay updated on the rapidly evolving observability market, including OpenTelemetry standards and cloud‑native monitoring trends.
- Cross‑Functional Advocacy: Collaborate with internal product teams to provide feedback on both AppDynamics and Splunk product roadmaps based on real‑world customer deployments.
Technical Competencies
- AppDynamics: Expert knowledge in APM, Business iQ, and monitoring distributed application architectures (Java, .NET, Node.js, etc.).
- Splunk Observability (Growth Area): A strong desire and capacity to master Splunk’s observability suite, including Infrastructure Monitoring, Log Observer, and Real User Monitoring (RUM).
- Observability Principles: Deep understanding of telemetry data, distributed tracing, service maps, and how to correlate technical performance with business outcomes.
- Cloud‑Native Environments: Experience with Kubernetes, microservices, and multi‑cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors + 5 years of related experience, or Masters + 3 years of related experience, or PhD + 0 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a pre‑sales or technical consulting role, ideally focused on APM or Observability.
- Current certification in AppDynamics (Associate/Professional/Implementation) or real‑world experience using the solutions.
- Strong understanding of SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) practices and DevOps workflows.
