AMS is recruiting on behalf of Rolls Royce for a Skilled Inspector available on an initial 12‑month contract in the Civil Aerospace business in Bristol. The role will follow a rotating shift pattern (mornings, afternoons and nights). The position is a contract placement with Rolls Royce’s Contingent Workforce Solution. Rolls Royce is a respected engineering organisation operating in a range of sectors including energy, aerospace, marine and defence. Responsibilities
- Perform intermediate inspection, receipt, dispatch or final clear inspection of components.
- Work with manufacturing engineers to determine the correct course of action to address non‑conformance, and deliver against weekly targets to meet customer requirements.
- Inspect castings using appropriate plant, equipment and techniques.
- Adhere to inspection procedure card specifications and drawings, confirming with quality acceptance standards.
- Complete inspection documentation, logging and detailing defects on specified blades and Nozzle Guide Vanes (NGVs).
- Create scrap, correction or salvage documentation.
- Book work through computer terminal and check priorities.
- Take ownership and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- A recognised time‑served apprenticeship/modern apprenticeship within a Mechanical Engineering discipline, along with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification (essential).
- Strong awareness of H&S and visual inspection techniques.
- Two or more years’ experience inspecting turbine blades and NGVs (desirable).
- Experience with aerospace inspection for NGVs and blades.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Good communicator.
- Attach copies of Level 3 qualification and completed apprenticeship document along with your CV if possible (essential).
