Job Description - The Role

AMS is the world's leading provider of Talent Acquisition and Management Services. Our contingent Workforce Solutions (CWS) service acts as an extension of our clients' recruitment team and provides professional interim and temporary resources. We partner with Arup to support contingent recruitment processes. On behalf of Arup, we are looking for a BIM Designer for a 6 month contract based in Manchester.

Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled BIM Designer to join our growing Civil Engineering team. This role is ideal for BIM Designers who are ready to take ownership of model development, support digital delivery on multidisciplinary projects, and contribute to advancing BIM best practice and digital innovation within the team. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, technicians and digital specialists to produce high quality BIM models and coordinated technical outputs for a variety of infrastructure projects, including highways, drainage, earthworks, utilities, and large-scale civil structures.

Key Responsibilities Will Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Produce detailed civil engineering designs, including models, coordination and drawings using the Autodesk suite of software, primarily on the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) platform using Civil 3D and Navisworks.
  • Support clash detection and model coordination activities across disciplines.
  • Maintain accurate model data, attribute information, and ensure consistent application of BIM Execution Plan and ISO 19650 standards.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of Common Data Environments (CDEs), project templates, workflows, and digital standards.
  • Learn, embed and distribute Arup digital workflows across design teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of BIM best practice within the business.

Core Technical Skills

  • Civil 3D Proficiency: Competent-level modelling of surfaces, corridors, pipe networks, and grading is essential. Well established use and development of Sub-assembly Composer components is required.
  • BIM Software: Hands-on experience with Autodesk Navisworks for clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination. Knowledge of the workflows associated with Autodesk Recap, Infraworks, Info drainage. Other software knowledge an advantage.
  • Standards & Protocols: A comprehensive understanding of ISO 19650 and local BIM mandates to ensure data consistency across the project lifecycle.
  • Data Management: Familiarity with Common Data Environments (CDE) primarily Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and Bentley ProjectWise for file hosting and version control.
  • Quality Control: Ability to perform model audits and verify data accuracy against the BIM Execution Plan.
