About the Role
The Senior Systems Engineer will work for AMS as a contractor supporting Tesco Bank’s Smarter Decisioning Platform. Based in Edinburgh, this role is a 6‑month contract, requiring 2–3 days on site. The incumbent will contribute to the Data Move Team within the Decisioning department, focusing on the File Transfer Gateway Platform that manages internal and external business file transfers.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate engineering activities and deliver high‑quality technical solutions in partnership with product teams and key stakeholders.
- Ensure consistent and reliable system operations, including monitoring, incident response, and proactive service improvement.
- Build, maintain, and support cloud infrastructure within AWS and on‑premise data centre environments.
- Contribute to the transformation of the file transfer gateway platform.
- Set up new secure file transfer pipelines.
- Support migration and separation activities linked to divestment.
- Decommission legacy components and establish future‑state architecture.
- Leverage automation (Infrastructure as Code and configuration management) to optimise processes and enhance service reliability.
- Lead and mentor engineers, promoting best practices and supporting capability development across the team.
- Act as a subject‑matter expert, contributing to architectural discussions and collaborating on long‑term technical strategy.
