We are seeking a Design Studio Manager. 5th Studio is a friendly and exciting architecture and design practice with a team of 20+ across our London and Cambridge offices. We work with a broad range of clients and commissioners to design and deliver innovative projects ranging in scale from small buildings to large urban strategies.
We are looking for a Studio Manager to join as a core part of our London team. They should have excellent organisational skills, curiosity, initiative, and a proactive approach to the smooth running of the studio. The Studio Manager works closely with the Leadership Team and Directors, Finance Manager, and architectural staff.
This is a permanent, full-time role, based primarily in the Wren Street studio, London WC1, with weekly travel to the Cambridge office. Working 40 hours per week within a hybrid/flexible working policy that requires work in the studio for 4 days per week (including Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) with one day working from home (Monday or Friday). Hours: 40 per week, hybrid/flexible. Salary Guide: £29,000.00-£34,000.00 per annum. Start Date: Early/Mid February 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Being the first point of contact for 5th Studio, greeting visitors and callers.
- Co-ordinating meetings, exhibitions and events in all studios and manage the in-house design reviews, audits, and other practice-wide workshops.
- Supporting the architectural team across all studios.
- Supporting the Directors.
- Preparing bid submissions.
- Maintain and update company policies and guidance.
- Being responsible for the day-to-day running and maintenance of the studio.
- Working in close liaison with our Finance Manager.
Qualities and Skills of the Studio Manager:
- The ability to work well as part of a team and to work independently.
- Excellent communication command of spoken and written English.
- Exceptional capacity for forward-thinking, a good eye, and reliable intuition twinned with the willingness to suggest (or ask about) solutions.
- Flexibility and a willingness to get involved in areas that might be outside your core responsibilities.
- Friendly, open and professional manner with clients, collaborators, and visitors.
- Relevant experience within an office administration/management role would be good but not essential.
- Close attention to detail and superior organisation and time management skills.
- Fluency in MS Office (Excel, Word).
- Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign and Photoshop.
- A curiosity to know more about your colleagues' work and purpose or a genuine interest in architecture and the built environment.
