They are creating a brand-new role to strengthen their production engineering, equipment reliability and calibration control across cleanroom and mouldshop operations. The Opportunity:
The Calibration and Production Engineer position blends production process engineering, equipment maintenance, calibration ownership, and general site engineering support. You’ll work directly with production, quality, technical and facilities teams to keep machines reliable, processes efficient and compliance airtight (ISO 13485). Expect a practical, sleeves-rolled-up role where your engineering ability actually makes a difference day-to-day.
Key Responsibilities as a Calibration and Production Engineer:
- Production Engineering:
- Setup, optimise and maintain RF welders, ultrasonic welders, drilling systems, printing equipment, assembly and test equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and process issues to reduce downtime.
- Support NPI, tooling qualification and process validation.
- Improve existing manufacturing processes, workflows and documentation.
- Drive scrap reduction, waste elimination and efficiency gains through proper engineering.
- Own and deliver the full preventive maintenance schedule.
- Maintain accurate PM records in line with quality and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate external service engineers and ensure annual plant maintenance is completed on time.
- Maintain calibration status for gauges, instruments, tools and production/test equipment.
- Arrange off-site calibration when needed and keep full calibration logs/certificates.
- Conduct routine PAT testing and periodic particulate testing in cleanrooms.
- Support CAPA, NCRs, root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Train production staff on machine setup, safe operation and basic maintenance.
- Contribute to CI initiatives including process optimisation, workflow improvements and equipment capability.
- Assist with facility inspections, electrical fault finding (within competence), and equipment installation/relocation.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Proven hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (regulated/medical device ideal).
- Strong mechanical, electrical and pneumatic fault-finding ability.
- Experience with calibration, test equipment, PM routines and production support.
- Solid documentation discipline within a quality-focused environment.
- Able to work independently while collaborating across production, quality, facilities and management.
Preferred:
- HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Maintenance or Process Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
- Exposure to Lean, CI, TPM, 5S or process improvement methodology.
