Working for an Aerospace First Tier Supplier based between Long Eaton & Castle Donington. They supply to well-known companies including Rolls Royce and Siemens, specialising in sheet metal fabrication, machining, assembly, and special processes including welding, non-conventional machining, and heat treatments.
Due to winning significant new projects with new and existing clients, we are looking to grow the team.
What the Role will Involve:
- You will be assigned a new product which needs to be put into production, assuming responsibility until it is in full production.
- Developing the project plan within a fully defined gated process using the NPI pack, which includes drawings and exploded views of the part.
- Identifying key tasks, which could include manufacturing routings and writing of SOPs.
- Conducting inspection activities to build quality into the process, including inspections for operators and the inspection team to certify the product.
- Processes typically include fabrication (laser cutting, bending, hot and cold forming, welding), CNC machining (34 & 5 Axis mainly milling), and assembly processes.
- Liaising with sub-contractors through to signing off the part.
- Working alongside the Special Process Engineer on NADCAP processes.
- Writing SOPs and manufacturing processes using fully defined templates for all key documents.
- Responsible for quality documentation, including the generation of FAIR packs for aerospace products and other customer-specific quality and inspection documentation.
Requirements:
- A hands-on background in a fabrication or machining environment.
- Understanding of the NPI process.
- Well organised, proactive, and a good communicator, owning the process from start to finish.
- Ideally experience in the aerospace sector or in precision manufacturing.
