Test Engineer of Machinery - Testing and Fault Finding on Electrical / Mechanical Components & PLC Programmes £32-£34k + Regular Overtime paid at Enhanced Rates. Based in Letchworth, 5D Recruitment is proud to be working exclusively, and in partnership with a leading engineering company based in the heart of the home counties. Employing nearly 50 people, they design, manufacture, assemble, test, and ship bespoke machinery from their new, world-class facility. They are market leaders in the concept design and manufacture of fully automated, high precision, bespoke machines which are used to complete complex functions required to guarantee the quality of the product. Working across a variety of industries, their main markets include the medical and scientific sectors. They have long-standing agreements with some of the most renowned manufacturers in their sector, with a growing order book, and an excellent pipeline; the future is looking exciting.
What the Role Will Involve:
- Completing a comprehensive test of the machines before they are shipped to the client.
- Working through a testing SOP including power up, functionality, and different control processes.
- Fault finding during the testing process, this could be mechanically, electrically, or with the control software (PLC) & HMI’s.
- Signing off the machines after test in anticipation of them being shipped directly to the client, or to the service team for installation on the client's site.
- Opportunity for some travel to install and demonstrate the machines to customers.
What we are Looking for in a Candidate:
- Time-served, electrical engineering background. Ideally with a formal qualification – e.g. C&G / NVQ / ONC – although not essential.
- Some test experience would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Experience of working with bespoke machinery, and assemblies, either building or maintaining them.
- Can read engineering drawings.
