Children's Residential Support Worker
Salary: £13.50 - £13.75 per hour, £50 sleep in rate plus overtime (+£2 per hour).
Shift Pattern: 2 days on, 4 days off, plus sleep‑ins.
Responsibilities
- Create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children and young people.
- Encourage and support children and young people in their education, social, and leisure activities.
- Work as part of a team to develop and implement care plans and risk assessments tailored to each child's needs.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records.
- Support children and young people with their daily routines.
- Liaise with external agencies and professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.
- Act as a positive role model, promoting independence, self‑esteem, and resilience.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and development opportunities as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children and young people in a residential setting is desirable but not essential.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care for Children and Young People (or equivalent) or willingness to complete.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A compassionate and caring nature.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and sleep‑ins on a rota basis.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and in challenging situations.
- A driving licence is essential for the role.
