Wiley’s social science and humanities portfolio is looking for an Editor in Chief for its psychology division. The role focuses on the strategic development and growth of one or more psychology journals, raising their visibility and attracting high‑quality submissions. The Editor in Chief will also manage the peer review process and decision making for manuscripts, ensuring best practice and ethical publishing standards.
Responsibilities
- Leverage professional network and research to drive content acquisition and submission growth across the psychology portfolio.
- Strategically develop one or more journals from scientific and publishing perspectives.
- Establish and maintain a strong network of authors, peer reviewers, and board members.
- Represent Wiley and the psychology portfolio at conferences, universities, and research institutes through in‑person and virtual outreach.
- Contribute to editorial evaluation, peer review, and decision making for manuscripts submitted to several journals.
- Collaborate with managerial staff and colleagues to foster a culture of trust, respect and high performance.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in psychology or related field with a strong research background.
- Excellent understanding of recent trends and developments in psychology research.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Self‑motivated, diplomatic, and flexible with outstanding organizational and time‑management skills.
- Excellent command of English (written and verbal).
- Deep understanding of scientific publishing, including commissioning and the peer‑review process.
- Prior experience in the publishing industry highly desired.
- Interest in science communication and advocacy for open research.
- Confidence in presenting and representing the journal portfolio at conferences and institute visits; willingness to travel.
