Do you have expertise in risk modelling, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning? If you’re brilliant with analysing data and crafting impactful stories, this could be a great opportunity. We’re looking for a Risk Modelling Analyst to join our Technical Pricing Team in AXA Health.
We’re working with the most up-to-date, sophisticated pricing methods. Using advanced Generalised Linear Modelling (GLM) and Gradient Boosting Machines (GBM), you’ll identify areas that could impact business profitability. You’ll find target market segments where we can expand our portfolio, within set profitability targets.
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You’ll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. We’re also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.
What you’ll be doing:
- Gather and interrogate data, management information (MI) to evaluate business profitability.
- Work with a variety of data sources to investigate emerging trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Evaluate the impact of strategic and tactical initiatives on business performance.
- Use latest machine learning techniques and models to develop an in-depth understanding of risks and dependencies.
- Using data from internal and external sources, run GLM and GBM to analyse interactions between elements of risk within portfolios.
- Review, analyse and propose pricing recommendations across varied AXA Health portfolios.
- Deliver high quality reports with recommendations for both technical and non-technical audience, to drive business strategy.
- Collaborate with colleagues across AXA Health, including senior managers.

What you’ll bring:
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role or a relevant graduate scheme.
- Strong technical skills, especially in MS Excel, including data analysis and visualisation.
- Ability to clearly present findings from analyses and tell stories for a non-technical audience.
- Ability to exhibit extensive experience in Risk Modelling tools such as RADAR, AKUR8 or other machine learning platforms is essential.
- Numerical and analytical approach.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of profitability.
- Experience of SAS Enterprise Guide, Power BI, VBA, SQL and Python.
- Knowledge and or experience of risk modelling, GLM and GBM tools.
- Graduate in a numerate subject such as mathematics, mathematics with actuarial studies, mathematics with finance or economics is preferred, but not essential.
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom. This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
