We are looking for a Pipefitter to join our HVAC team!
The Journeyman Pipefitter is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC piping systems in commercial and industrial settings. This role requires someone who is technically skilled, dependable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. In New Jersey, this position works under the supervision of a licensed Master HVACR Contractor or Mechanical Supervisor, in compliance with state and local mechanical codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain HVAC piping systems including chilled water, hot water, steam, condensate, refrigerant, and gas piping.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings to determine layout and materials.
- Measure, cut, thread, solder, braze, and weld pipe and tubing using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Perform pressure testing, leak detection, and system diagnostics to ensure proper operation.
- Collaborate with HVAC technicians, project managers, and general contractors on job sites.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, time spent, and materials used.
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds New Jersey HVAC and mechanical code requirements.
- Maintain tools and equipment and ensure a clean, safe work environment.
- Provide professional, courteous service to clients and team members.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of verifiable experience in HVAC or mechanical pipefitting.
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship program or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.
- Must be eligible to work under the supervision of a licensed NJ HVACR Contractor or Master Pipefitter.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid New Jersey driver\’s license with clean driving record.
- Familiarity with NJ mechanical and HVAC codes and inspection requirements.
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC piping systems and hydronic system components.
- Strong preference for candidates pursuing or planning to pursue HVACR licensure in New Jersey.
- Strong communication skills and active engagement on job sites.
- Good with paperwork and documentation.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and safety-conscious.
- High level of professionalism in customer and team interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA 608 Certification (Universal preferred).
- Welding certifications (e.g., ASME, AWS).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with commercial HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, and rooftop units.
- Experience using job tracking or construction software.
