Job Description Summary
Are you interested in STEM, aviation or engineering? GE Wales is a worldâleader in repair and overhaul of aircraft engines. A GE Wales Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship will give you a wideâranging experience repairing and overhauling gas turbine engines that have been fitted to aircraft that have flown all around the world. Our apprentices specialise in either mechanical, machining or electrical disciplines. Apprentices will be joining our team as we move into a new era as we have been selected to overhaul and repair the newest and soon to be the biggest, most fuelâefficient jet engine there has been, the GE9X fitted to the new Boeing 777x fleet. It is an exciting time for us all!

Do You Have What It Takes?
The GE Wales Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship is an exciting threeâyear programme that provides all the skills an individual needs to kickstart their career in aerospace.
Programme Breakdown
Year 1
- FullâTime at Coleg y Cymoedd, working towards a L3 BTEC qualification.
- Extraâcurricular activities to grow key skills such as teamwork, collaboration, and selfâconfidence.
Year 2
- One day per week at a Coleg y Cymoedd, completing their L3 BTEC.
- Four days per week working onsite in our Factory, which includes a highâprofile engineering project, and starting work on a L3 NVQ.
- Rotations through the repair, overhaul, and test areas of our business, incorporating Lean methodology in everything you do.
Year 3
- Full time working within the business.
- Completing a rotation programme to cover all aspects of what we do.
- Complete L3 NVQ with workâbased learning and assessment.
In addition, you\âll have the chance to take part in enrichment activities and soft skills training to help you grow and reach your full potential.
Qualifications / Requirements
Please ensure you have achieved or are predicted these grades or above as these are the minimum requirements to join this apprenticeship. Failure to meet these grades could mean you are not eligible to join the programme.
- A minimum of 5 x GCSEs, A* â C or 9 â 4, to include Mathematics, English Language, and Science.
- Equivalent qualifications or experience may be considered.
Desired Characteristics
- A positive attitude, with an eagerness to learn and a flexible approach to working.
- Ability to problem solve, capable of prioritising and multiâtasking.
- Strong interpersonal skills and able to work effectively within diverse teams.
- Good manual dexterity.
- Any experience in STEM or industry would be advantageous.
