Overview

Turner & Townsend Heery is seeking a Construction Project Manager to manage Water/Wastewater projects from design initiation to completion. This role can be performed fairly remotely (work from home), but will require travel once or twice a month (typically) to LaPlata, Maryland in Charles County for meetings with the owner or visiting project sites.

The ideal candidate will have experience with water/wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and water collection and distribution systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct periodic site visits to monitor the progress of construction.
  • Review status of work completed during the period covered.
  • Ensure work is generally proceeding in a good and workmanlike manner in general accordance with the approved drawings and specifications.
  • Review contractors\\\’ direct cost payment requisitions and budget status.
  • Review subcontracts, bonds/subcontractor default insurance, change orders, and related documentation.
  • Review Developer\\\’s monthly job cost reports and opine on adequacy of contingency.
  • Review construction and disbursement schedules and lien waivers or other documentation submitted by the Developer.
  • Prepare project status reports and recommend the release of construction funds.
  • Review contract drawings and specifications for completeness and compliance with architectural/engineering best practices.
  • Analyze the Developer\\\’s cost budget, coordinate with the Cost Advisory group for parameter estimates and take-offs, and review supporting documentation from the Developer, contractor and subcontractors.
  • Comment on construction and disbursement schedules and other submitted documents (e.g., zoning approvals, surveys, building permits, utility approvals, soil and foundation reports, ADA compliance).
  • Prepare Construction Risk Assessment Reports.
  • Provide guidance as needed and support project teams as assigned.
  • Adhere to SOX controls where applicable.
  • No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position; may provide informal guidance or lead project teams as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of critical path method scheduling.
  • Experience using project management information systems for managing projects.
  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers.
  • Ability to effectively present information.
  • Knowledge of financial terms and ability to review invoices and conduct value engineering analysis.
  • Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages and discounts.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents; solve problems with multiple options.
  • Engineering analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.
  • Knowledge in MS Project, contracts, and construction practices.
  • Knowledge of entitlement/permitting processes and construction delivery methods and agreements.
  • Familiarity with construction best practices, codes, and various building systems.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor\\\’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of engineering, construction management, or architecture experience.
  • Licensure as either a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect is desired.
  • Professional certifications such as CCM and PMP are preferred.
