About us

52North is a medical technology company on a mission to make emergency care safer and more effective. Awarded breakthrough status for its first product Neutrocheck® by the UK Government in 2024, we build innovative diagnostic and digital solutions to transform patients' journeys in emergency care. Our mission-driven multi-disciplinary team is backed by leading UK and US hospital venture funds, and partners including the University of Cambridge and Macmillan Cancer Support.

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised, proactive person with good attention to detail to join a fast-growing medical technology company and play a central role in keeping the business running smoothly. As Operations Associate at 52North, you will play a key role in ensuring efficiency and strategic execution, leading important processes and driving impactful initiatives. A minimum of 2 days (Mondays and Tuesdays) are required to be in-person in our Cambridge office. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in being the person that ensures things run smoothly, and wants to be part of a friendly, mission-driven team working to transform emergency care.

What you will do

  • Manage business operations and work with critical stakeholders: coordinate board meetings, leadership team meetings, supplier and investor discussions, including taking minutes and tracking actions.
  • Support strategic execution: support the leadership team in delivering on high-priority activities, understanding company strategy, and keeping key company documents up to date.
  • Drive business communications: prepare first drafts of important written documents and communications, including press releases and grant applications.
  • Maintain core operational systems: keep the CRM up to date, log conversations and follow-ups, maintain datarooms, and ensure processes are running efficiently.
  • Support people operations: act as the day-to-day HR contact for staff, and manage administration of company benefits including share option scheme, holiday purchase scheme, and health insurance.

What we need

  • Attention to Detail: You thrive when focusing on detail, while also keeping an eye on the bigger picture, and take pride in accuracy.
  • Adaptable: Comfortable with routine activities, and able and happy to switch between support and strategic.
  • Tailored Communications: You take pride in your communication, can articulate messages clearly, and tailor to appropriate audiences.
  • Organised and Proactive: You are motivated, show initiative, love ticking off lists, and know how to get on and get things done.
  • IT-Proficient: You are excellent working with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel, able to build models, edit documents in tracked changes, and build sleek and succinct presentations, and you adapt quickly to new technologies and software.

Even better if…

  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in the health-tech sector.
  • Educational Background: An undergraduate degree with at least a 2:1 (finance, law, science or a related field).
  • Relevant Experience: Experience in an operational role or start-up environment, or with grant reporting, communications, operations, or executive support.

What can you expect from us

  • A competitive benefits package that includes private medical and dental insurance and a contributory pension scheme.
  • Equity, letting you share in 52North's long-term success.
  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rated), and enhanced maternity leave.
  • A diverse and inclusive work environment that brings together multidisciplinary experts.
