About us
52North is a medical technology company on a mission to make emergency care safer and more effective. Awarded breakthrough status for its first product Neutrocheck® by the UK Government in 2024, we build innovative diagnostic and digital solutions to transform patients' journeys in emergency care. Our mission-driven multi-disciplinary team is backed by leading UK and US hospital venture funds, and partners including the University of Cambridge and Macmillan Cancer Support.
About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised, proactive person with good attention to detail to join a fast-growing medical technology company and play a central role in keeping the business running smoothly. You will provide high-quality executive support to our leadership team, while also taking ownership of the day-to-day administrative coordination that keeps 52North ticking. No two days will look the same: one morning you might be coordinating travel for an international event, and the afternoon helping our team organise important documents ahead of a meeting.
There is flexibility around this being a full-time or part-time (min. 3 days) role; we are keen to meet the right candidate. A minimum of 2 days (Mondays and Tuesdays) are required to be in-person in our Cambridge office. It's an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in being the person that ensures things run smoothly, and wants to be part of a friendly, mission-driven team.
What you will do
- Supporting the leadership team: Diary management, travel booking (UK and international), and expense filing
- Taking minutes at weekly meetings
- Coordinating rooms, logistics and attendance for meetings, off-sites and events
- Organising company-wide events such as the Christmas party
- Wider administrative support:
- HR administration: onboarding and offboarding, keeping records up to date, and supporting recruitment
- Legal administration: filing contracts, maintaining logs, and sending CDAs for signature
- Office support: managing memberships, booking meeting rooms and parking, and purchasing in line with company policy
- Light IT and web admin: supporting MS365 Admin Centre tasks, making small website updates, and ordering print items
- Quality administration: circulating documents for signature, managing document logs, tracking progress to completion, and keeping training records up to date
- Other duties as may arise from time to time
What we need
- Someone who takes pride in their work, has excellent organisational skills and can stay on top of detail
- Some prior experience in an administrative, office coordination or assistant role (this could include internships, placements or junior admin positions)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a friendly and professional manner
- Confident user of Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)
- Discretion and good judgement when handling confidential information
- A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to roll up your sleeves and help wherever needed
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment where priorities can shift
Even better if…
- You have experience supporting a team
- You have experience working in a startup, scale-up or other small organisation
- You have used HR software, DocuSign, Adobe Sign or similar tools
- You have experience supporting recruitment or onboarding activities
What can you expect from us
- A competitive benefits package that includes private medical and dental insurance and a contributory pension scheme
- Equity, letting you share in 52North's long-term success
- 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rated), and enhanced maternity leave
- A diverse and inclusive work environment that brings together multidisciplinary experts
