We're 50DEGREES, a digital & web agency. We're growing our work with engineering, maritime & defence businesses, and we're looking for a freelance Social Media Manager / Graphic Designer who genuinely gets that world.
We're looking for someone who understands what our clients actually do. Subsea systems, naval tech, precision engineering. It's detailed work, and the content needs to reflect that. If you can take complex, technical subjects and turn them into content that lands, you'll fit right in.
Building a content calendar, designing assets to fill it, or cutting a short video for a client launch should be well within your capabilities. If you can do all of it well, we want to hear from you.
Flexible contract role. Work from home, drop into the studio when it matters. We care about the work, not the clock.
What you'll do:
- Plan, schedule & manage social content across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook & TikTok
- Design on-brand graphics, posts, stories & short-form video for technical clients
- Edit basic video content (Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve or similar)
- Turn complex engineering briefs into content that performs
- Track what's working, report on it & adjust
- Keep brand consistency tight across every channel
What we're looking for (essential):
- Experience working with technical businesses. Engineering, maritime, defence or similar
- A technical education, or a track record working alongside technical firms
- The ability to understand engineering concepts & communicate them clearly
- A strong portfolio showing both social & design work
- Confident with the Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) &/or Figma
- Basic video editing skills
- Comfortable with social scheduling & analytics tools
- Experience level is flexible. If you're early in your career but your work is sharp & you know this sector, apply. If you're seasoned, even better.
To apply: Submit your application via the LinkedIn job post. Your portfolio matters more to us than your CV. Send us examples of what you've achieved for other businesses, ideally technical ones, with a quick note on the results you delivered. Anything that shows you'd be a good fit for engineering, maritime & defence work will strengthen your application. We look forward to hearing from you!
