The Council has significant challenges ahead including delivering service improvement in an environment where the demand for public services will increase, against a backdrop of reduced resources. The way public services are delivered will continue to evolve and change, and the Council wants to be at the forefront of enabling safe, strong and prosperous communities. It is therefore critical that the Council has the policy framework and culture within which the right workforce can deliver their very best.

Supporting the function in its purpose of ensuring the Council has a clearly developed employer proposition, along with supporting people-focused policies and programmes, to create a working environment that reflects the Council's core values. The aim is to enable managers to create a highly productive working environment that fosters talent and delivers agreed outcomes for customers and local communities.

Reporting to the HRBP, the role will work within People Development to provide professional HR advice and support to managers; offering appropriate and pragmatic business focused solutions to enable effective management of people issues. This role will focus on providing advice and assistance to line managers on reducing employee absence and improving attendance levels within their teams. Providing on time advice and guidance on implementing SBC absence policy and procedures. The role will be measured against absence targets and time frames.
