Job Purpose: Assisting to provide an efficient fleet facility and to maintain all motor vehicles and plant to a required standard by Pembrokeshire County Council (PCC) in a prompt and effective manner.
Overview Responsibilities:
- Undertake the maintenance and repair on a full range of heavy commercial, light commercial and specialist plant in accordance with PCC Policy and Standards, Operator Licence and Department for Transport standards.
- Respond to breakdowns and undertake recoveries at the roadside or other locations as operationally required according to PCC Policy.
- Deal with the preparation and presentation of vehicles to nominated MOT test stations.
- Provide key support outside of standard operational hours by participating in a standby rota.
- Steam clean vehicles/parts as operationally required, ensuring the workshop is kept tidy and clean.
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required.
Relationships: Communication / Nature of Contacts
- Communicate professionally and effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders in regards to the maintenance and repair of vehicles/plant.
- Work as part of a team to maximise the availability of vehicles and plant.
Working pattern:
- Predominately work in a workshop/garage environment.
- Will be required to work on the roadside in order to deal with breakdowns.
- Predominately based at Thornton Depot, Milford Haven but may be required to work at other depots or anywhere else in the County.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
- Must hold a current drivers licence.
- Qualified to a City and Guilds Standard or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years experience as a qualified vehicle fitter.
- Hold a HGV / PSV driving licence.
- Electrical and electronic system repair and maintenance skills.
- Pneumatic system repair and maintenance skills.
- Fault diagnostic abilities.
- Qualified MOT tester Class 4, 5 and 7.
- Will need to work well within a team, as well as on own initiative.
