Overview

Location: London, United Kingdom

Salary: £305.46 - £610.92 (British Pound Sterling)

Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation, delivery and coordination of the Challenging Inequality Programme across the Council for staff and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate governance arrangements for programme board meetings for the Challenging Inequality Programme Board, The Challenging Inequality Coalition, The Challenging Inequality Partnership Working Group and the Race Equality Working Group, ensuring that high quality papers are produced and circulated ahead of meetings.
  • Help develop the Islington as a strategic leader workstream by informing leaders of the key priorities for focus and developing the strategic action plan, monitoring, tracking and reporting performance against actions.
  • Collaborate with the Islington as an employer workstream to stay abreast of workstream developments and to help coordinate the role and expectations of equalities champions.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the reporting arrangements for the Islington as a service provider and commissioner workstream ensuring that services leaders are supported and empowered to lead and report with confidence. Ensure that services/directorates are well informed of developments and are linked into similar projects or programmes that may be delivered by other teams.
  • Build relationships with staff forums/co-chairs keeping them informed and involved in the wider corporate programme and commitments to challenge inequality.
  • Proactively spot opportunities to make connections between workstreams and activate new projects, programmes and ideas generated in meetings. Ensure there is engagement and collaboration with relevant teams, partners and community organisations.
  • Research ideas, connect with organisations/individuals and resources of best practice to inform programme priorities and support the development of a clear set of actions.
  • Produce well presented, clear and concise reports, plans, slides, schedules and communications adapted to suit different audiences.
  • Collate and analyse highlight and progress reports, capturing significant information to communicate impact and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with the other members of the equalities team to support the achievement of team objectives and the wider Fairer Together team role modelling the ethos and culture of fairness, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Person specification:

  • Qualifications: Experience of managing projects.
  • Experience: Experience of reporting to boards as part of a programme, governance arrangements and reporting, communicating with different audiences and stakeholders.
  • Skills: Ability to produce clear and concise project documentation including project plans, issues and risk logs, reporting tools. Good stakeholder management and communication skills. A strong understanding of equalities issues. Ability to communicate effectively and tailor communication style depending on audience. Ability to build rapport with staff and the community whilst having an inclusive approach. Ability to carry out research tasks and develop a clear set of actions.
