Responsible for:
- Supporting the implementation of Telecare Technology (Assistive Technology) within Blaenau Gwent.
- Developing and supporting the use of Telecare in a person’s own home.
- Ongoing installation and maintenance of the Telecare equipment and administration work relating to client details and accounts.
Principal Accountabilities
- To arrange appointments, assess for Telecare service and make decisions on eligibility and suitability.
- To install, programme and demonstrate Telecare equipment to service users and their carers.
- To provide additional support to existing customers when difficulties occur with understanding and use of equipment.
- To assist with all monitoring and reviewing of telecare assessment, installation and maintenance associated with the Telecare Service.
- To work closely with Social Care and Health personnel to ensure needs of potential and existing customers are met in a timely and efficient manner.
- To promote home safety, particularly regarding Telecare services.
- To collect lifeline units from customers’ homes and other collection points as required.
- To replace batteries and assist with any other non-engineering functions.
- To clean, test, repair and recycle Telecare units, and organise the dispatch of any faulty equipment to the contractor ensuring all stock records are maintained accurately.
- To programme new alarm units and other units ready for issue to new customers.
- To operate a stock control system, assist with the preparation of performance indicator data and ensure electronic records are maintained.
- To keep abreast of developments in Telecare and its associated fields and to give advice and information as required.
- To develop a holistic approach to customers to identify any additional needs that might require assistive technology equipment or referral for falls assessment.
- To signpost service users and carers to other services as appropriate.
