Do you enjoy building relationships, organising great experiences, and helping young people feel confident about their future? 4YPUK LTD is looking for an organised, people-focused Employability Coordinator to help deliver employability and career-related learning programmes across Bedford schools.

Hours: 21 hours per week (ideally 4 days), during school hours, term-time only

Contract: Fixed-term (1 year) maternity cover

Location: Home-based, with delivery across schools in Bedford

Safeguarding: Enhanced DBS required

What you’ll be doing:

  • You’ll connect with local employers to recruit and onboard volunteer mentors (including DBS, ID checks and safeguarding), match them with young people, and nurture positive mentoring relationships.
  • Working closely with your allocated schools, you’ll be the go-to contact—promoting the programme, supporting referrals, coordinating schedules and activities, and helping deliver engaging in-school sessions such as assemblies, workshops, group work and occasional 1:1 support.
  • You’ll also keep everything on track behind the scenes by maintaining accurate records and contributing to monitoring, evaluation, reporting and communications.

Who we’re looking for:

  • We’re looking for an organised, proactive person with strong administration skills and the confidence to work with employers and volunteers, young people and school staff.
  • You’ll be comfortable juggling priorities, meeting deadlines and solving problems as things change, with clear written communication (from reports and case studies to social media) and solid IT skills across Microsoft and Google tools.
  • You’ll also bring a good understanding of safeguarding in education, a genuine commitment to young people’s wellbeing, and the ability to travel to delivery venues and occasional employer meetings or site visits.
  • Experience working with young people and/or schools, mentoring/coaching, careers/HR, or managing volunteers would be an advantage—but isn’t essential.

Safeguarding: This role requires an enhanced DBS check and includes direct supervised and unsupervised contact with children.
