Assistant Herdsperson/ general farm worker An opportunity has arisen for a new role on our high performing dairy farm near Bicester, Oxfordshire.
Our herd of 225 high yielding Jerseys are milked through a 24/24 herringbone parlour fitted with ADF, auto id and auto shedding.
They are fully housed, TMR fed and bedded on mattresses.
The dairy has undergone significant investment over the last five years including the cow housing and new milking parlour along with heat and health monitoring systems.
Our focus for the herd is to continue with high levels of production and also a high quality of milk whilst maintaining high levels of animal welfare.
The Role The successful candidate will have the following qualities
The Role
- Whilst some experience is preferable training can be provided to enhance the skill set of somebody matching all other requirements and characteristics needed.
- High animal welfare standards.
- Ability to spot and report sick animals
- Happy to follow pre-existing protocols and management structures.
- Good record keeping.
- Full driving license is an advantage.
- High attention to detail with passion for high yielding cows.
- Calm and quiet whilst milking and handling stock.
- Punctual and reliable.
- A willingness to complete up to 50% of twice a day milking.
- Able to work on their own and also in a team.
- Basic tractor driving skills are essential
- Have a good sense of humour essential for dairy farming.
Accommodation can be provided with a mobile home. The area has great connections by train and road. Local amenities within 5 miles.
