4way Consulting is a design and engineering consultancy specialising in the delivery of intelligent transport systems (ITS), traffic signals and road lighting services in both the strategic and urban road sectors. Our range of services includes ITS infrastructure design, ITS operational consultancy, road lighting consultancy and design, traffic signals consultancy and design, motorway and all-purpose trunk road development, smart cities consultancy and design, technology implementation, management and commissioning, business strategy, feasibility studies and value management.

Role
Senior Engineer, who could be based at any one of a number of our offices nationwide (with opportunities for project roles on site) or adopt an agile/flexible working approach and be home based. You will act as a technical leader across our ITS infrastructure design team with responsibility for ensuring the highest levels of quality in your project deliverables.
Attributes and experience
- Degree qualified, ideally in a relevant engineering discipline, with 5 years’ relevant experience, or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering with 8 years’ relevant experience. CEng desirable.
- Excellent working knowledge of National Highways DMRB, MCHW and Operational Technology Specifications Library - OTSL.
- Knowledge and experience in designing and/or installing roadside technology and motorway communications infrastructure.
- Use and application of the DMRB and the MCHW, including writing specification for highway works (SHW) contract specific appendices.
- Applied experience of CDM 2015, health & safety management, quality and environmental standards.
- Experience and demonstrable knowledge of working in a BIM/digital design project environment.
- Good knowledge and awareness of other multidisciplinary design workstreams and integration of the highway’s technology infrastructure.
- Ability to communicate effectively and mentor colleagues in the application of engineering principles to highways technology design.
- Stakeholder engagement and technical coordination across multi-disciplinary teams.
- National Highways Operational Technology (OT) standards, including DMRB, MCHW, and OTSL.
- BS 7671, ‘Requirements for Electrical Installations’ (desirable).
