We are seeking a Finance Director to lead and oversee all financial aspects of our UK operations. Reporting to the CFO, the Finance Director will play a key role in shaping the financial strategy, ensuring robust controls, and supporting profitable growth across the business. This is a senior leadership opportunity to influence the performance and direction of a dynamic, growth focused organisation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the UK finance function, providing direction, oversight, and development of the finance team.
- Partner with US counterparts to ensure financial consistency and alignment across the global business.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with the US Director of Financial Planning & Analysis.
- Lead and manage UK audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accounting standards.
- Review monthly financial reports, including comparative analysis, ratio analysis, and sales/income performance.
- Oversee accounting tasks including payroll, tax compliance, and strategy reporting.
- Monitor and manage working capital, cash flow, and capital structure for optimal business performance.
- Establish and maintain internal financial controls, including fraud prevention measures.
- Provide input on tax planning, company investment, and capital expenditure approvals.
- Oversee ad-hoc financial projects, including acquisitions, relocations, or other strategic initiatives requiring financial due diligence.
- Advise on company objectives, and strategic decisions based on financial insights.
- Act as an advocate for the business, maintaining integrity and promoting best practices at all times.
Hours and Location
Full time. A minimum of 40 hours per week, 8.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday, with the ability to facilitate regular overtime when required. The role will initially be based at our current HQ in Harlow, Essex. Our UK headquarters will be relocating to Hertford later this year, at which point the role will transition to being primarily there. The successful candidate must therefore be willing and able to work from both locations during this transition period. Travel within the UK and occasionally further afield will also be required.
Qualifications and pre-requisites
- ACA/FCA qualified with 8-10 years’ experience in public accounting or senior financial management roles.
- Strong technical expertise in finance, accounting and reporting.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills, including Vlookups, Pivot Tables & complex formulas.
- Commercially astute with the ability to make decisions that protect and improve profitability.
- Strong leadership skills with a positive, engaging style capable of motivating and developing a finance team.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Effective relationship management and communication skills across all levels of the business.
- Analytical and adaptable, able to work flexibly in a dynamic business environment.
- Experience within the live events sector is desirable but not essential.
