A leading main contractor specialising in high rise residential and large-scale construction projects is seeking an experienced and driven Head of Health & Safety to lead and manage all aspects of health, safety, environmental, and compliance across the business. This is a senior leadership position for a proactive individual with strong experience managing health & safety on complex high-rise construction schemes and a proven ability to drive a positive safety culture throughout operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the company’s health & safety strategy across all projects and operations
- Ensuring full compliance with HSE legislation, company procedures, and industry standards
- Conducting site audits, inspections, and incident investigations across high-rise developments
- Developing and implementing policies, RAMS, and safe systems of work
- Working closely with site management teams to promote best practice and continuous improvement
- Managing training programmes, toolbox talks, and workforce engagement initiatives
- Monitoring H&S performance, reporting findings, and implementing corrective actions
- Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities
- Supporting pre-construction and tender teams on H&S planning and compliance
Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior Health & Safety role for a main contractor
- Strong background working on high-rise residential or large-scale construction projects
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma essential
- Excellent knowledge of current HSE legislation and CDM regulations
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to influence teams and maintain high safety standards across multiple projects
- Full UK driving licence
- Chartered IOSH membership advantageous
