An established engineering business with over 30 years of experience designing and manufacturing innovative power, monitoring and control systems is looking to add an experienced Electronic Engineer to its growing development team. Operating across marine, vehicle and off-grid energy markets, the company is investing heavily in the future of sustainable energy technologies and offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge products within a collaborative multidisciplinary engineering environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working across the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through to testing, firmware development and ongoing product support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design electronic sensors and modules for multiplex bus systems
  • Provide electronic engineering support across a range of off-grid energy products
  • Develop low-level embedded firmware and undertake PCB bring-up activities
  • Produce schematic designs and PCB layouts
  • Maintain existing bills of materials and manage component obsolescence issues
  • Develop firmware interfaces for devices including SD cards, LCD displays and Ethernet controllers
  • Support the development of new products while maintaining existing platforms
  • Conduct component-level testing, fault finding and validation activities

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Degree or Master's Degree in Electronic Engineering (or Software Engineering with significant electronic design experience)
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar electronic design role
  • Strong analogue and digital circuit design experience
  • Proven PCB design experience involving:
    • Sensitive analogue circuitry
    • ARM processors
    • Power electronics
  • Knowledge of EMC-compliant design techniques
  • Experience designing switch-mode power supplies up to approximately 150W
  • Working knowledge of hardware interfaces including:
    • USB
    • I2C
    • SPI
    • CAN
  • Embedded programming experience on ARM Cortex-M processors
  • Component-level testing and fault-finding skills
  • Practical hands-on electronics assembly and wiring experience

Desirable

  • Experience using Altium Designer
  • Embedded Linux development
  • Device Tree configuration
  • Ethernet hardware and communication protocols
  • RTOS development experience
  • Additional embedded software development skills

You'll be joining a multidisciplinary engineering function that includes: Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Design Engineers, Controls Engineers, Software Engineers, Development Engineers, Product Engineering Leadership.
