Job Description

Infrastructure Engineer required for my client based in Hull.

Salary approx. £45-55k+

This is an onsite role / parking is available.

About the Role

We’re seeking a proactive and technically skilled IT Engineer to join a dynamic IT team. This role goes beyond ticket resolution—it’s about fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing through swarming and mentorship.

You’ll support a diverse infrastructure, including Windows, Cisco, Fortinet, Intune, Azure, Active Directory, SQL, Rubrik, Hyper-V, Meraki, and Cybersecurity. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with a passion for problem-solving and helping others grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality technical support via phone, service desk, chat, or in-person interactions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across:
  • Windows OS & applications
  • Networking (Cisco/Meraki/Fortinet) – TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN
  • Microsoft Azure & Intune environments
  • Active Directory & Group Policy administration
  • Hyper-V virtualization
  • Cybersecurity best practices
  • Lead or actively engage in swarming sessions to tackle complex issues while sharing knowledge.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, owning key system streams and mentoring team members.
  • Assist in project rollouts, upgrades, and multi-site deployments.
  • Maintain and enhance IT documentation, processes, and knowledge base articles.
  • Uphold IT security policies and data protection standards.
  • Participate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours support (including weekends on rotation).
  • Ensure SLA compliance, driving timely resolution of incidents and service requests.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in technical support/Infrastructure duties (multi-site or enterprise preferred).
  • Strong expertise in:
  • Windows OS & desktop environments
  • Cisco & Meraki networking
  • Fortinet firewalls
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong customer service mindset with clear communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to mentor and guide others.
  • Positive attitude and a drive for continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator, ITIL).
  • Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Freshservice, Jira Service Desk).
  • Knowledge of automation tools/scripting (a plus).
