Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer

We’re recruiting for a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join a business developing sustainable ventilation, cooling, heating and daylighting products for commercial buildings.
You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, helping develop products from initial concepts through to prototyping, testing and production. The role offers practical experience in mechanical design, simulation and manufacturing, with training and mentorship to develop your skills.
The role
- Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks, incorporating geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Support structural, thermal and airflow simulations using FEA and CFD tools.
- Take part in prototyping, testing and design improvements.
- Help design components for sheet metal fabrication, injection moulding and assembly.
- Work with electronics and software engineers on electromechanical products.
- Maintain bills of materials, assembly instructions and test reports.
About you
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
- A strong understanding of mechanical design principles.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Basic knowledge of FEA/CFD concepts; experience with ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation would be useful.
- Practical university or personal project experience involving prototyping, such as 3D printing or CNC machining.
- An understanding of manufacturing processes, including sheet metal fabrication and injection moulding.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of HVAC or building services, exposure to embedded systems or IoT, or experience with Python or MATLAB would be beneficial but is not essential.
