Our local authority client based in South London are urgently seeking an experienced Supported Lettings Officer.
£22.86 an hour PAYE

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To procure properties in the private rented sector for the council to accommodate rough sleepers and those at risk of homelessness into the private rented sector as well as provide rapid intensive support, advice and assistance to sustain accommodation provided.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Initiate, develop, maintain and create new working relationships with private sector suppliers including estate and lettings agents and landlords to procure private rented sector properties for rough sleeper or customers at imminent risk of rough sleeping.
- Advise individual landlords on all available options for letting their properties via the Council. Promote the benefits of working with the Council with landlords and private sector suppliers.
- Promote and sell Council schemes by organising and co-ordinating regular publicity events, including the Landlords Forum. Producing leaflets, mail shots and any other appropriate information.
- Will contribute to the development of policies and services for single clients at risk of rough sleeping, participating in pilot projects, working groups and other meetings as required.
- Provide clear information to clients on the under 35 shared accommodation local housing allowance rates and any exemptions where applicable for 25-34 year olds including evidence required for this exemption.
Knowledge, including educational qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of inner city housing issues and in particular Rough sleeping and Supported housing provision.
- Awareness of issues and challenges facing rough sleepers and solutions to eliminate Rough Sleeping.
- Knowledge of housing benefit rules and regulations, welfare benefits and issues relating to private rented tenancies.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and undertaking/monitoring risk assessments and housing inspections.
Experience:
- Experience of working with homeless people providing advice, assistance and support.
- Experience of working within a private rented sector housing industry.
- Experience of leading or working with others to deliver results.
- Experience of procurement of properties, including inspection, and negotiating with landlords in the private sector.
