This opportunity suits an experienced SEN professional with strong leadership skills who is confident managing complex statutory processes and supporting staff within a busy local authority environment. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior SEN Officer to cover a vacancy within the Special Educational Needs team.
Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day guidance, oversight, and professional support to ensure statutory duties are met and high-quality outcomes are delivered for children and young people with special educational needs.
- Line management responsibility for a designated cluster of SEN Officers and Caseworkers.
- Manage and quality-assure complex SEN cases and contribute to decision-making, ensuring compliance with statutory timescales and SEND legislation.
- Coordinate, develop, and review Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans.
- Work closely with families, schools, health professionals, and partner agencies to promote collaborative working and positive outcomes.
- Support families throughout the EHC process with excellent communication and a person-centred approach.
- Strong background in complex SEN casework.
- Experience in managing teams and handling statutory processes related to EHC plans.
- Ability to coordinate, develop, and review EHC plans and ensure compliance with statutory timescales and SEND legislation.
- Excellent communication skills and a person-centred approach when working with families and partner agencies.
