The Role

  • Reporting to the Service Director for Planning, Regeneration & Transport, you will:
  • Provide strategic leadership and management of the Council's high-performing Regeneration Service.
  • Lead the delivery of complex regeneration programmes and major capital projects.
  • Develop and implement regeneration strategies, investment plans, and place-based initiatives.
  • Provide expert strategic advice to senior leadership, elected Members, and key stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships across the public, private, and voluntary sectors.
  • Oversee service budgets, ensuring sound financial management and value for money.
  • Drive continuous service improvement, innovation, and the successful delivery of corporate priorities.

About You

  • To be successful, you will demonstrate:
  • Significant senior leadership experience within regeneration, economic development, or a closely related field.
  • A proven track record of delivering large-scale regeneration programmes and place-shaping initiatives.
  • A strong understanding of local government, governance, and the political environment.
  • Experience of developing strategy, leading organisational change, and driving service transformation.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget oversight and resource planning.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, partnership-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • A relevant professional qualification or substantial equivalent experience.
