Are you passionate about supporting children and young people to make positive life choices? Cardiff Youth Justice Service (YJS) is looking for a dedicated Prevention Worker to join its multi-agency team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with young people aged 10–17 who have offended or are at risk of entering the youth justice system, helping them reduce anti-social behaviour and achieve positive outcomes.

As a Prevention Worker, you will:

  • Undertake assessments of young people referred to the YJS Prevention Team.
  • Develop and deliver targeted intervention programmes to address anti-social behaviour and reduce the risk of offending or reoffending.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children, young people and their families.
  • Apply restorative justice principles and restorative approaches throughout your work.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to deliver effective support and achieve the best outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to effective case management.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience working with children and young people, particularly those who are vulnerable or at risk.
  • A good understanding of the youth justice system and the issues affecting young people aged 10–17.
  • Knowledge of restorative justice principles and restorative approaches.
  • Experience undertaking assessments and developing targeted intervention plans.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a suitably insured vehicle.

Please note that this role requires some evening and weekend working.
