We are looking for a dedicated Fleet Driver / Passenger Transport Assistant to join our Fleet Operations team and play a vital role in delivering high-quality transport services to service users across the community. About the Role As part of the Fleet Operations team, you will be responsible for the safe transportation of passengers—many of whom may have mobility needs or require additional support. You will operate a range of fleet vehicles, assist passengers on and off vehicles, ensure vehicle cleanliness, and support service delivery within our Day Services when needed. This is a frontline role where professionalism, patience, and a strong focus on safety and customer care are essential. Key Responsibilities Safely transport passengers in accordance with operational procedures and safety standards. Provide support to vulnerable passengers, ensuring their comfort and wellbeing during journeys. Operate and maintain fleet vehicles in line with council policies and legal requirements. Ensure wheelchair users and all passengers are secured and transported safely. Complete relevant documentation, including vehicle logs and fare collection records. Wear appropriate PPE and follow all health and safety procedures. Support Day Services when based at the Day Centre, assisting with service users as required. Maintain vehicle cleanliness to a high standard. Respond to emergency or urgent transport needs as directed. Report any concerns regarding vehicle safety or passenger welfare promptly. About You We’re looking for someone who: Has a full, clean driving licence (D1 category preferred or willingness to train). Has experience working with vulnerable groups or in a transport-related environment. Understands and applies safe working practices and passenger safety requirements. Is reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering excellent customer service. Can work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and passengers. Is flexible and able to respond to changing service needs, including emergencies.
