We are currently recruiting for an experienced SEND Casework Officer to join and manage a caseload of children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
The Role
- Managing ongoing EHCP casework and ensuring all statutory processes are completed accurately and within required timescales.
- Managing a defined caseload of children and young people with EHCPs.
- Coordinating and monitoring Annual Reviews and Phase Transfers.
- Managing cases moving into and out of the county.
- Monitoring EHCP provision and ensuring plans are implemented effectively.
- Acting as a key contact for families, young people, schools and professionals.
- Managing complex casework and supporting mediation and Tribunal processes.
- Preparing information and reports for decision-making panels, mediation and Tribunals.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records and databases.
- Ensuring Draft, Final and amended EHCPs are accurate and of a high standard.
- Working closely with education, health, social care, finance and commissioning teams.
- Supporting quality assurance and contributing to the development of SEND policies and processes.
We are looking for someone with strong EHCP/SEND casework experience, ideally within a Local Authority environment. You will need:
- Experience managing an individual caseload.
- Strong knowledge of EHCP statutory processes and timescales.
- Experience with Annual Reviews and Phase Transfers.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- The ability to analyse complex information and professional reports.
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
- The resilience to work effectively in a busy and sometimes pressured environment.
- Experience of mediation or SEND Tribunal processes would be advantageous.
