We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Planning Officer to join on a 6-month rolling contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional with strong development management experience to work within a busy local authority environment.
Main Duties
- Processing a varied caseload of planning applications, including complex minor applications and small-scale major developments
- Managing lawful development certificates and prior approval applications
- Carrying out site visits and assessments
- Providing duty planner and pre-application advice services
- Presenting applications and recommendations at Planning Committee meetings
- Managing appeal casework and preparing supporting documentation
Requirements
- Previous experience working within a local authority planning team
- Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and development management processes
- Experience handling complex planning applications independently
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload effectively
