The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Interim Senior Commissioning Manager to lead the Contracts Team within Adult Social Care during a critical period of change. This is a hands-on leadership role, providing operational stability while driving improvements across contract management, provider performance, compliance, and governance. Working closely with commissioning, brokerage, finance, and operational teams, you will ensure contract activity supports high-quality service delivery while contributing to wider strategic priorities. You'll also play a key role in preparing for upcoming Local Government Reorganisation (LGR), helping to strengthen processes, governance, and performance reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operational management of the Adult Social Care Contracts Team.
  • Oversee provider performance, contractual compliance, and risk management in line with the Contract Management Framework.
  • Ensure contract activity is accurately recorded and maintained across contract management systems.
  • Manage escalated provider and contractual issues, coordinating responses across commissioning, brokerage, finance, and operational teams.
  • Provide effective line management, including supervision, one-to-one meetings, and team development.

About You

  • We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running and provide confident leadership within a fast-paced Adult Social Care environment.
  • Significant experience in commissioning, contract management, or provider oversight.
  • A strong understanding of contract management frameworks, governance, compliance, and risk.
  • Experience using commissioning and contract management systems.
  • Proven leadership experience, including line management of teams.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a track record of driving service improvement.
