We are looking for an experienced Highway Inspector to join our team in Oxfordshire and help keep the highway network safe, compliant and well maintained. You will be responsible for:
- Carrying out planned and ad hoc highway safety inspections.
- Identifying, assessing and reporting defects.
- Monitoring highway works and ensuring compliance with standards.
- Managing customer enquiries, complaints and stakeholder communications.
- Maintaining accurate inspection records and supporting claims and legal requirements.
- Contributing to maintenance programmes and continuous service improvement.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Experience in highway safety inspections or a similar environment.
- Knowledge of the Highways Act 1980 and Section 58 defence.
- Knowledge of the Well-Managed Highway Infrastructure Code of Practice.
- Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to assess risk and prioritise workload effectively.
- Competence in inspection systems and reporting tools.
About you
You will have strong communication skills, a practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently while managing a varied workload. A full driving licence and willingness to travel across Oxfordshire are required.
