Head of Service – Safeguarding and Quality Assurance
Location: Medway
Salary permanent: £61,140 – £73,241 per annum

We are seeking a visionary Head of Service for Safeguarding and Quality Assurance to play a pivotal leadership role in driving excellence, innovation, and positive outcomes across our children\’s services.
About the role
As the Head of Service – Safeguarding and Quality Assurance, you will provide strategic leadership and direction to ensure Medway\’s safeguarding standards remain robust, responsive, and child-focused. You\’ll lead on quality assurance, oversee Ofsted preparation, and champion continuous improvement across all safeguarding functions.
Qualifications
- A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g. Degree, PGC in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW or equivalent)
- Registration with Social Work England
- A Level 5 Management qualification (NVQ or equivalent)
- Extensive management experience, including leading through change
- Significant experience in safeguarding and quality assurance within children\’s services
- Proven success in planning for and contributing to Ofsted inspections
- Strong understanding of the legislative and policy framework for services to children, young people, and families
- Experience working within a Signs of Safety framework
- Evidence of continuous professional development
