Housing Front Door officer X3 Location: Braintree Essex| 6-month temporary contract | Full Time Rate: £25–£28 per hour umbrella, depending on experience Working: 4 days office-based, 1 day remote Closing Date: 16th October 2026 We are supporting to recruit three Housing Front Door Officers. You will be the first point of contact for residents accessing Housing Services, providing advice, signposting and initial triage while identifying homelessness risk, vulnerability and safeguarding concerns. Key duties include: Handling telephone, email and reception enquiries. Completing initial housing triage and screening. Identifying and escalating urgent or complex cases. Supporting homelessness prevention and Temporary Accommodation processes. Maintaining accurate case records and processing documentation. Working with Housing Options, Social Care and external partners. Providing a calm, empathetic and professional service to residents in crisis. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Strong telephone handling and customer service skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle challenging conversations professionally and empathetically. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Accurate record-keeping and note-taking skills. Ability to assess information quickly and make sound initial judgements. Experience managing digital records, scanning and indexing documents. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Desirable experience in housing, homelessness, local authority or customer service environments.
