We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join a busy local authority team on an initial 12-week contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Environmental Health professional with extensive experience in Environmental Protection and enforcement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied reactive and proactive Environmental Protection caseload.
- Undertake complex investigations relating to noise nuisance, air quality, contaminated land and other environmental protection matters.
- Conduct monitoring activities, including the use of specialist noise monitoring equipment, analysis of results and production of technical reports.
- Prepare and serve legal notices and agreements in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Prepare legal briefs, instruct counsel and support legal proceedings, including providing evidence at court hearings and prosecutions.
- Organise works in default and pursue financial recovery where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments and external multi-agency partners to support wider public health and protection objectives.
Essential Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of Environmental Health roles, responsibilities and legislation.
